For those who keep an eye on what we do you won't have failed to notice that we put on a conference in Scarborough called Exploring Digital Futures. It was a two day event looking at the role of technology, particularly VR and AR, in the arts, heritage and culture sector - we're pleased to say it went very well.

The weekend kicked off with a day long conference which saw ten speakers from across the UK (and one from LA) talk about how they've used the technology, how they see it going and the problems it may have. Speakers included Sarah Ellis from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Bafta award winning Blue Zoo and Oscar winner Kevin Mack amongst others.

This lead onto a number of fringe events; over the weekend we showed films, played computer games on a cinema screen, inflated a 360-degree immersive astronomical experience and hosted a number of theatre performances. All of this was underpinned by an expo which gave delegates and the local community the opportunity to try this technology for the first time. We had lots of school children in too which was really encouraging.

All in all, not bad for a bit of fun. A big thanks goes out to the speakers, volunteers, sponsors and the people who came along - it was completely self-funded......another next year?
